FUTURE FOODIES INTERNSHIP
Our Future Foodies Internship is a year-long, paid programme providing hands-on work experience in all food areas of the business, including the market garden, kitchens, cookery school and production units. Graduates regularly go on to secure roles within Daylesford; many are still with us today. It’s an intensive programme, so be prepared to get stuck in. Experience is not necessary, but a love for food is essential.
Applications for 2024 are now open.

WHERE WILL YOU WORK?
MARKET GARDEN
In our market garden we grow hundreds of varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs and cut flowers. You will spend four weeks – one week per season – working alongside our head horticulturalist helping to harvest, weed and sow crops in the garden. You will learn about the complexities of organic gardening and growing seasonally.
BLACK BARN
The Black Barn is where we produce all of our fresh soups and ready meals.
You will spend four weeks here, helping to cook, prep and pack the soups and meals and learning about food production on a large scale.
PATISSERIE
Our patisserie team makes our sweet goods, including our brownies, biscuits, jams and loaf cakes, as well as seasonal products, such as our yule logs and Simnel cakes. You will get hands-on experience weighing out large-scale recipes, icing cakes and helping the team with preparation.
BAKERY
Our bakery produces a wide range of artisan breads using different grains and styles of loaf, from our popular seven-seed sourdough, to focaccia, baguettes and our award-winning beetroot bread.
Alongside breadmaking, you will spend six weeks making viennoiserie dough and learning the art of croissant lamination.
CREAMERY
Daylesford's creamery produces a range of hand-crafted award-winning cheeses, as well as yoghurts, kefir and butter.
Over six weeks you will learn the different production processes for each of these products and will gain unique insight into a cheesemaker's world.
KITCHENS
You will spend nine weeks working in three different styles of kitchen across the site, prepping and cooking different dishes, from seasonal pasta and wood-fired pizzas in The Old Spot to the seasonal dishes and daily specials that showcase the best of our market garden and farm in The Trough. You will also be involved in service.
COOKERY SCHOOL
Our passionate team of cookery tutors offers a wide range of cookery courses covering different skills, culinary styles and occasions. You will spend six weeks immersed in a variety of classes, exposing you to an advanced level of cookery knowledge.
DELI
Our deli counter is a celebration of all of our produce and working here is an opportunity to see and meet the customers buying the products you have made.
Working front of house allows you to engage with our customers and tell the story of our products.
FOODIE'S CHOICE
You will also have the option to tailor your internship experience, opting to work in the department of your choice for two weeks, such as marketing, menu development or events.
WHAT WILL YOU GAIN?
By the end of the programme you will have gained a detailed understanding and knowledge of seasonal food production – from farm to fork. The scheme will also have provided insight into the mechanics of a food supply chain and how a sustainable business is run.
This opportunity will allow you to grow your confidence, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as expand your repertoire of food skills and knowledge.
