ABOUT THE ROLE
Join our team as a Junior Butcher and play an essential role in providing high-quality cuts of meat to our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of our meats while adhering to strict food safety standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent knife skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
SALARY: £13.50 per hour plus tronc
HOURS: Full Time 35 hour Contract ( Weekend work included )
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Share knowledge about the Farm and its values when engaging with customers
- Champion the quality and presentation of fresh meat with well-merchandised counters and pre-pack displays in line with store standards
- Provide swift, knowledgeable, and engaging butchery service that meets high retail and hygiene standards
- Complete all store opening and closing procedures with full attention to due diligence
- Use strong knife skills to confidently portion poultry, deboned meat, and break down full carcasses
- Maintain tight stock control by rotating products, checking dates, and conducting regular quality checks to minimise waste and loss
- Support sustainability goals by contributing to social and environmental improvements aligned with our B Corp mission
- Increase fresh meat sales by upselling, suggesting alternative cuts, and promoting planned offers
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Butcher, General Manager, and Head Chef to make the most of product nearing end of life
- Deliver consistently excellent customer service that creates a welcoming and helpful in-store experience
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Meat Cutting and Preparation Expertise: Skilled in breaking down carcasses, portioning cuts to specification, and preparing value-added products with precision and efficiency.
- Customer Service and Sales Skills: Ability to interact professionally with customers, offer product recommendations, and promote specials while maintaining a clean and welcoming service area.
- Knowledge of Meat Quality and Food Safety: Understanding of different meat grades, aging processes, and safe handling practices to ensure product quality and compliance with health regulations.
- Knife Handling and Equipment Operation: Proficient with knives, saws, grinders, and slicers, maintaining sharp tools and safe techniques to maximize productivity and minimize waste or injury.
