Sous Chef
THE BAMFORD COLLECTION IS A GROUP OF CONSCIOUSLY MINDED LIFESTYLE BRANDS COMMITTED TO NOURISHING AND NURTURING PEOPLE AND PLANET.
The Bell is a modern British inn set in the heart of the Cotswolds – a place to eat, drink and sleep in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The Bell family is growing, and we are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to ensure the smooth efficient running of the kitchen
ABOUT THE ROLE
Come and join us as our new Sous Chef and see your career take off.
As a hands-on chef, you must be confident running all sections of a fast-paced, high-end pub and this begins with providing Instant Service with a smile!
You will be cooking with the very best (largely organic) produce, with a focus on simplicity, sustainability, and seasonality — all to a very high standard. A significant amount of our ingredients come from our own neighbouring organic farm.
You are our ambassadors, and will always be enthusiastic in all interactions with guests or colleagues and know your subject in order to make recommendations, and promote The Bell, Daylesford & Bamford, and to help educate your colleagues on our offering and history.
You should be a keen foodie who keeps up to date with the latest food trends and techniques, while maintaining a solid foundation in traditional cooking.
PACKAGE: £38900 per annum
HOURS: 48 hours per week / Weekend work included

- Take full responsibility for leading the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring that quality, efficiency, and team morale are maintained to the highest standards.
- Be actively involved in the creative development of menus, offering new ideas and helping to refine dishes to keep the offering fresh, seasonal, and appealing to customers.
- Support the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of kitchen staff, striving to build a motivated, skilled, and high-performing team by leading with enthusiasm and professionalism.
SKILLS YOU WILL BRING
- Possess a solid understanding and practical knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures, ensuring compliance with all health regulations and promoting a clean and safe working environment.
- A confident, self-motivated team player who is enthusiastic about learning and eager to grow within the hospitality industry, continually seeking opportunities to develop skills and contribute more to the team.
- Genuinely passionate about preparing and delivering food of consistently high quality, with a strong commitment to exceeding customer expectations at every service.
- Demonstrates creativity and a deep understanding of ingredients and flavour combinations, with the ability to design and execute innovative dishes using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce.
- Experienced in managing the demands of a busy kitchen environment and capable of confidently taking the lead and maintaining high standards during the Head Chef’s absence.
- Skilled in motivating team members during busy service periods, while also effectively managing performance and ensuring the team consistently meets food quality, hygiene, cleaning, and safety standards.
